How the Magrides Process Works
Replacing your magnetic ride shocks through Magrides is straightforward. Here is exactly what to expect from start to finish.
- Place your order. Select your vehicle and configuration on the product page. You will pay for the remanufactured shocks plus a refundable core deposit. This deposit is held as security for your old shocks, which we need returned after installation. Choose your return shipping option at checkout.
- We check our inventory. If we have your matching set in stock, we ship immediately. Most U.S. customers receive their shocks within 5 to 10 business days and will receive a tracking number as soon as the package leaves. If your specific configuration is not currently in stock, we will reach out to schedule an expedited pickup of your old shocks. Nagengast remanufactures your exact cores and ships them back directly to you. This route typically takes 2 to 3 weeks from the day your shocks are collected to the day the rebuilt set arrives.
- Install your new shocks. Your remanufactured shocks arrive ready to install. Any qualified independent shop familiar with your vehicle can handle the job. Several of our customers have had their Audi dealers install them without issue. Remember to source new stretch bolts and locknuts (approximately $85 from Audi) as these should always be replaced.
- Return your old cores. Once your new shocks are installed, pack your old ones individually and drop them off using the prepaid return label. No need to contact us first, just ship them back.
- Receive your deposit refund. Once your old shocks arrive and are confirmed to be in acceptable condition (no bent structural components, no missing parts), your core deposit is refunded in full. Most customers receive their refund within a few days of delivery confirmation.
FAQ
What is a core deposit and why do I pay it?
The core deposit is a fully refundable fee that covers the value of your old shocks. We need your original units returned so Nagengast can use them as the basis for future remanufactured sets. Once your cores arrive in acceptable condition, the deposit is returned to you in full.
What if I do not want to return my old shocks?
No problem. Select “Keep my old shocks” at checkout. In that case the core deposit is non-refundable, as we will not be recovering the cores.
What counts as acceptable condition for the core return?
We are not looking for perfect shocks. We expect them to be worn, leaking, or in the condition that brought you to us in the first place. What we cannot accept are shocks with bent structural components, major physical damage from an accident, or missing parts. If you are unsure, reach out before ordering and we will tell you straight.
Do Nagengast shocks use proper magnetorheological fluid?
Yes. Every shock is remanufactured with proper magnetorheological fluid, the same type that gives the system its variable damping characteristics. Nagengast’s process addresses the root causes of the original OEM failures rather than simply resealing them.
Will my dealer install Nagengast shocks?
Some will, some will not. Many of our customers use independent Audi or Ferrari specialists with no issues. Several have had their dealers fit them as well. Installation is straightforward for any competent shop familiar with these cars.
What about the import fee mentioned on the site?
For shipments to the United States, shocks are sent from our facility in Gdansk, Poland. Due to recent changes in U.S. customs policy, FedEx may bill an import fee of approximately $200 to $300 directly to the recipient at delivery. This is separate from your order total. We will let you know if it is likely to affect your order.
How long is the warranty?
All remanufactured shocks come with a 2-year warranty covering material and workmanship defects.
