What you are getting

These are fully remanufactured magnetic ride shocks. Each shock is disassembled at Nagengast’s facility in Gdansk, Poland, cleaned, inspected for damage, fitted with new components where needed, refilled with proper magnetorheological fluid, reassembled, tested, and painted before it ships. The result is a shock that performs to the same parameters as a new unit.

Why magnetic ride is worth keeping

If your shocks are leaking, it is tempting to convert to coilovers and be done with it. But the OEM magnetic ride system is genuinely excellent when it is working. It adapts to the road in milliseconds and delivers ride quality that a static spring rate cannot replicate. Most customers who go through the Magrides process are glad they did not convert.

Compatibility

Covers all 2008 to 2015 Audi R8 configurations: V8 and V10, Coupe and Spyder. V8 sets are physically compatible with V10 cars and work correctly. If ordering for a Spyder, please select that body style at checkout as the geometry differs from the Coupe.

Pricing

Prices shown are per pair (front pair or rear pair) or for a complete set of four. The refundable core deposit is added at checkout and returned once your old shocks are received in acceptable condition.

Installation note

Any independent shop familiar with the R8 can handle this installation. Budget roughly $500 to $1,000 for labor depending on your shop. Source new stretch bolts and locknuts from Audi (approximately $85) as these must be replaced any time the suspension is disturbed.

I have to say, this is the right way to run a business! From beginning to end, very professional, friendly and efficient have been my key words. I’m really pleased with the products and would highly recommend. I love my R8 even more now!

I can definitely recommend the rebuilt shocks from Raf at Nagengast. Mine are still good years later. No issues at all.

I recently used Nagengast to repair all four of my OEM MagRide shocks on my Gen 2 Audi R8. Every single one was leaking and on their way out. The rears were already pretty bad and I could feel the ride getting much stiffer to the point where it became undrivable due to the rears becoming incredibly stiff and throwing suspension warning lights. Here in Australia, Audi quoted me $6,100 AUD per corner. No chance I was paying that. Most people I spoke to had already switched to coilovers because they couldn’t justify the price to replace. I didn’t want to give up the MagRide system because it’s actually a great setup when it works properly. So I started doing some research and came across Nagengast. At first I was skeptical. Everyone tells you to avoid rebuilt shocks online, especially the random ones which are for sale from China. But after chatting with the Nagengast team and seeing what they do, I felt confident to go ahead. They showed me examples, explained their process and were super transparent. Within a week, a full set of rebuilt shocks arrived at the workshop where my R8 was getting work done. We installed them and honestly the car feels like new. The suspension is responsive, smooth, and it feels even better than before. I am absolutely over the moon! If you’re in the same boat and want to keep your OEM MagRide without getting stung by Audi prices, I highly recommend these guys. They got my R8 driving the way it should and saved me a HEAP of money. Big thanks to the team.

Had a great experience with Raf and buying replacement MagRide shocks for my 2009 V8 R8. I even managed to get the Audi dealer to agree to fit them. Been good ever since. Sent old ones back and received my deposit immediately (in bitcoin!!) awesome!!

Had mine done years ago. Must be 4 years now as it was proper to lockdown. Fully recommend. Came back like new and work sweat as a nut.

My OEM mag rides had already been replaced twice on my car by 24,000 miles with factory replacements. I used Nagengast this time and I’m confident that his rebuild units will not have the inherent flaws of the factory ones. Two years later they are still perfect.

Got mine from RAF a couple of years ago. Great to work with and the product is very good. I’d highly recommend these.

I have a 2012 V10. Purchased all 4 struts from Raf in November 2022, at 28k miles. Currently at 32k miles, have had zero issues. Raf’s communication was excellent throughout the entire process. My independent mechanic installed them for $1000, and free return shipping for the core return.

I had mine replaced on my 2009 R8 3 yrs ago. The whole proces was super easy with Raf and saved so much money it was a life saver. Car is still going hard today and I use it almost as a daily driver.
I’d absolutely use Raf and Nagengast in the future.

Replaced my leaking MagnaRide shocks on a 2014 Audi R8 with Nagengast remanufactured units for $2,000 easy install and excellent ride quality. Now a front shock is leaking, and I’ll likely go with Nagengast again. Great OEM-like performance and value.
