What you are getting

These are fully remanufactured magnetic ride shocks. Each shock is disassembled at Nagengast’s facility in Gdansk, Poland, cleaned, inspected for damage, fitted with new components where needed, refilled with proper magnetorheological fluid, reassembled, tested, and painted before it ships. The result is a shock that performs to the same parameters as a new unit.

Why magnetic ride is worth keeping

If your shocks are leaking, it is tempting to convert to coilovers and be done with it. But the OEM magnetic ride system is genuinely excellent when it is working. It adapts to the road in milliseconds and delivers ride quality that a static spring rate cannot replicate. Most customers who go through the Magrides process are glad they did not convert.

Compatibility

Covers all 2008 to 2015 Audi R8 configurations: V8 and V10, Coupe and Spyder. V8 sets are physically compatible with V10 cars and work correctly. If ordering for a Spyder, please select that body style at checkout as the geometry differs from the Coupe.

Pricing

Prices shown are per pair (front pair or rear pair) or for a complete set of four. The refundable core deposit is added at checkout and returned once your old shocks are received in acceptable condition.

Installation note

Any independent shop familiar with the R8 can handle this installation. Budget roughly $500 to $1,000 for labor depending on your shop. Source new stretch bolts and locknuts from Audi (approximately $85) as these must be replaced any time the suspension is disturbed.

  1. Place your order. Select your configuration and add to cart. A refundable core deposit is included. This deposit is held until we receive your old shocks back, then refunded in full.
  2. We check our inventory. If your matching shocks are in stock, we ship immediately. Most U.S. customers receive their order within 5 to 10 business days. If your configuration is not in stock, we contact you to schedule an expedited pickup of your old shocks. Nagengast remanufactures your specific cores and ships them back to you. This route typically takes 2 to 3 weeks from pickup to delivery.
  3. Install your new shocks. Any qualified independent shop can handle the job. It is the same process as fitting OEM shocks.
  4. Return your old cores. Pack your old shocks using the prepaid return label and drop them at a UPS or FedEx location. No need to contact us first.
  5. Receive your deposit refund. Once your old shocks arrive and are confirmed in acceptable condition, your core deposit is refunded in full within a few days.

These shocks are the correct solution if your R8 is showing any of the following:

  1. Visible fluid leaking from one or more shock absorbers
  2. Ride has become noticeably stiffer, especially at low speeds
  3. Suspension warning light active on the dashboard
  4. Handling feels vague or uneven side to side
  5. Audi dealer has quoted replacement at $3,500 or more per corner
All remanufactured shocks come with a 2-year warranty covering material and workmanship defects. The warranty covers failures caused by the rebuild process itself, not physical damage from accidents or improper installation. To make a warranty claim, contact us at raf@magrides.com with your order details and a description of the issue.
